The Interim Breach Notification rules announced by HHS last week have been published in the Federal Register today. That means that the rules go into effect on September 23, 2009.
While the interim rules go into effect in 30 days, HHS is accepting comment on the interim rules for the next 60 days. There are several mechanisms to submit comments. The simplest is to submit comments electronically via the rulemaking portal: http://www.regulations.gov/.
