While the DC area was being buried in snow last week, and I was listening to the news stories announcing that the Federal government would be shut down for another day, I wondered -- will anyone outside DC notice?
I was surprised when I noticed. The Federal government shutdown first affected me on Thursday when CMS cancelled a National Provider Call on HIPAA Version 5010 implementation.
Again this morning, I was reminded that the Federal Government was effectively out of business last week when I began my routine review of CMS transmittals published the week before. When I pulled up the list this morning, I did a double-take since no transmittals had been added. At first I thought it must be a mistake, then I realized there were no new transmittals, because CMS was stuck in the snow.
